Which Safety Instructions to Include with Your Air Freshener Warning Labels
Room sprays and air fresheners are super popular right now, and especially artisan handmade style mists. If you make and sell room sprays, it is very important that you include an air freshener warning label, or room spray care card, with each product, to make their customers aware of any safety risks associated with using your room spray products. Adding warning information on your room spray packaging will not only help your customers stay safe but that way you can also ensure your products are compliant with the local authority. Any flammable products do require you to include safety labels, so be sure to add safety information on your air freshener packaging.
A bit further below, we have included a list of the safety instructions which can be included with each of your room sprays as a scented spray care note or as an air freshener warning guide.
As a side note, if you don’t want to design room spray safety instructions yourself (or if you simply don’t have the time), you can use one of our ready-made Room Spray Care Card Templates.
The safety information can be included as care cards with your room mists, or as a warning label placed on the bottle itself. Diy My Design has templates for both.
All of the room spray care card business templates in our shop are editable and printable, so you can quickly create professional and personalised warning labels for your scented air mists shop providing all of the necessary safety information to your customers.
Safety Instructions to include with Room Sprays:
1. Spray into centre of room avoiding direct contact with delicate fabrics and surfaces
It is recommended that air fresheners are sprayed towards the centre of the room to avoid marking or staining certain fabrics, textiles, furnishings or surfaces.
2. Shake well before use
This is more of a quality instruction but very important. Shake the air freshener well before use to combine and evenly distribute product oils, liquids, and ingredients during each spray, and ensure maximum fragrance.
3. Avoid contact with face, eyes, and skin
Room spray products are not cosmetic by nature, so it is not intended to be used on any part of the body, and especially not the face and eyes. It is recommended to spray away from the face and eyes and if contact is made with your skin or eyes, to wash the area with water as soon as possible. Room spray can be a skin irritant.
This is an example of safety information which you can include on your room spray or air freshener warning labels:
“CAUTION: For external use only. If consumed, seek immediate medical advice. Contact with product may cause eye or skin irritation.
If eye contact occurs, rinse with water. Do not dispose in drain. Do not expose to extreme temperatures.”
For more information about the toxic effects of air fresheners, see this article at poison.org.
4. Highly flammable – Do not spray on a naked flame or any incandescent material
Room sprays contain highly flammable ingredients so do not spray anywhere near a naked flame or near any other heat source. Keep room sprays and aerosols away from heat and fire.
5. Do not swallow
Swallowing air freshener can cause toxicity, ranging from minor mouth irritation to nausea, vomiting, and in some cases, effects which are life-threatening. Swallowing larger amounts can also result in intoxication and drowsiness.
6. Keep away from children and pets
Ingredients in some room sprays can be quite toxic if ingested by children or pets and can cause stomach problems or respiratory illnesses. There’s even a risk of damage to the kidneys, liver, and central nervous system, so keep room sprays away from children and pets.
